Allergy difficulties
I think by now most of you already know, but figured I would post anyway. We found out that Allison has several food allergies. We knew that she was allergic to dairy because everytime we had anything from that category (sour cream, milk, cream cheese, etc.) she would break out in hives everywhere it touched. But we had no idea just how many foods she is allergic to. Wednesday she went to the allergist to discuss the results and how to proceed. Although it was a great appointment I am now feeling at a loss. Her list is very extensive. Wheat, dairy, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, oats, barley. I know that there are many places out there that have ideas and recipes, but I am having a hard time finding any that encompasse ALL of her allergies and not just some. It is pretty hard to eliminate all of those from recipes. So if you have any ideas or suggestions, websites you know about, anything at all let me know.

Oh sweet friend,
I had to take JJ off nearly everything for a time when he was little because we were attempting to sort out the many allergy possibilities for him as well. The whole thing passed in somewhat of a blur, but I do remember just figuring out a handful of "yes" foods and then we just stuck to them... It was boring but it worked. Fruit was a lifesaver, as was the Health Food Department at Fred Meyer. I know that probably doesn't help, but it's what we did. Good luck finding variety, and I'll try to remember to keep you two in my prayers! Luv ya girl!
Oh Erin, I'm so sorry!!! My mom's here visiting, so we're on it! I'll let you know if we come up with anything... Love ya and praying for you and little Allison...
P.S. My mom just said, well at least chocolate wasn't on there! ;)
(is that dairy??? oh, BUMMER!!)
Great plan, Sasha -- find the safe foods and stick with those. That'll get you started, Erin. So, meat is okay, fruit and vegies are okay, rice is okay... That's a good start, actually.
Better be sure to stock up on chocolate for YOU, though!
I didn't know!!! My family has some similar allergies (not as severe though). We have a local bakery that is a wheat, gluten, dairy, and egg free. I will try to find out if they have any recourses for you. This is such a huge bummer...
(((hugs))
Jen
I miss you!!!!!
There is a magazine called "living without" that you may want to look into. They have lots of ideas/recipes for folks with allergies.
